TESTIMONIAL: TASHONDA
"Life went from being empty, vain, and meaningless to having purpose, direction, and a destiny. To having a substance about me that not only can I share with my family and my children, but with anyone I come across. I'm able to share the hope I have within me now. IFI has been a great tool.
TESTIMONIAL: JASON
"We all possess some kind of leadership skill. That leadership skill is what lead us to prison. We have some kind of innate ability to be something, and we just chose to use it the wrong way.
"Through the help of IFI, through God really changing our hearts, and teaching us how to use those abilities, every one of us has the opportunity to come out here and be a leader."
STORYBOOK DADS
Every child enjoys story time with their father. It’s a time of bonding, growing, and learning. But for many families, this important tradition isn’t possible. For both prisoners and their children, we know that restoring family bonds is critical to transforming lives and successful reentry. Without that bond, prisoners are at a higher risk of returning to crime, and their children are at risk of depression and destructive behavior.
The Storybook Dads program was introduced in Texas to help connect children and fathers, giving these kids much-needed “dad time,” and giving prisoners an opportunity to step up, take responsibility, and prepare for life after being released.
A DAY WITH DADS
Family is the foundation of our society. And every year, hundreds of prisoners and their families are reunited for a day through programs such as Prison Fellowship's InnerChange Freedom Initiative.
"Day with Dads" is a special time when families are once again able to be together and enjoy the wonderful moments that only come between a dad and his children. The "Day with Dads" program not only changes a child's life—it changes a family.
IFI KANSAS -- PROGRAM IN ACTION
IFI Kansas members have a busy, active day. From daily classes
on leadership, personal growth, business plans, and numerous other classes, to time in the computer lab, library and music room. At the end of each day they have time to study in their cells. The IFI Kansas program is helping to see changed lives from the inside out.
MINNESOTA IFI—PROGRAMS THAT WORK
Departments of correction have a right to be skeptical about programs when public safety and scarce resources are on the line. The InnerChange Freedom Initiative—a program developed by Prison Fellowship and designed to reduce recidivism—is winning the skeptics over.
CHUCK COLSON DISCUSSES THE HISTORY OF IFI
