The Second Chance Act (2007) The Act authorizes grants for the States to establish drug treatment programs that are alternatives to incarceration. It also establishes grants for family-based substance abuse treatment and grants for States to provide drug treatment to offenders in prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities.

The 1986 Anti-Drug Abuse Act This act established multiple mandatory minimums for drug offenses, including the 5- and 10- year mandatory minimums for drug distribution or importation. Click here for more information from Families Against Mandatory Minimums.
United States Sentencing Commission guidelines amendement 706 (2007) (Scroll down to No. 706) This amendment seeks to alleviate some of the effects of the 100 to 1 sentencing disparity for crack cocaine and cocaine powder that is entrenched in the U.S. code.
United States Sentencing Commission guidelines amendment 713 (2007) (Scroll down to No. 713) This amendment made the change in sentencing guidelines contained in amendment 706 retroactice.
